projects:
• One-dimensional (1D) atomic and molecular wires: fundamental studies and device applications, with emphasizes on biomolecules.
• Nanoelectronics/Nanomaterials: Continue the study of the electronic transport properties of various nanostructures using modified SPM systems, emphasizing in the interface of nanoelectronics and biology. Further study will utilize rationally designed DNA nanostructure to template nanoelectronic components such as nanoparticles or carbon nanotubes into functional nanodevices.
• Bio-Nanotechnology: Design of novel DNA nanostructures, implementation of the designed structure in the construction of patterned DNA arrays and nanomechanical devices. Develop modular methods to achieve biomimetic molecular motors. DNA fast sequencing using nanotechnology.
• Biomolecular Imaging: Investigation of protein-DNA interactions using high resolution imaging technology such as Atomic Force Microscopy and Electron Microscopy.
• Nanobiomedical Research: Develop novel AFM based on Molecular Imaging’s PicoTrec as research tool to achieve the ability to identify the specific proteins on a membrane surface. This means you can take something very complex, like the surface of a human cell with all of the types of different receptors on it and ask questions about the local chemistry, like what is binding at those sites. That will provide the fundamental knowledge you need to develop new drugs.
