Biden-Harris Administration recognizes UGA Engineering research

The Biden-Harris Administration recently recognized UGA Engineering’s Dr. Matthew Bilskie and other esteemed partners who are conducting vital and groundbreaking oceanographic research.

Dr. Bilskie, alongside a team from the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP), is conducting research around forecasting coastal impacts from tropical cyclones. The NOPP, under the Ocean Policy Committee, is the nation’s flagship program to facilitate ocean research partnerships, and comprises numerous industry and government partners, along with several academic partners, including The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, The University of Florida, and Louisiana State University.

Dr. Bilskie additionally leads UGA Engineering’s Coastal Ocean Analysis and Simulation Team (COAST) which develops computational hydrodynamic models to simulate astronomic tides, wind-waves, storm surge, and rainfall-runoff in coastal and oceanic environments.
