I received a BSc. in Agriculture (Specialization Biotechnology) from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka in 2012, an MSc. in Applied Microbiology from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2016. Currently, I am a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Georgia. I am currently working in the Nano Electrochemistry Laboratory headed by Dr. Ramaraja Ramasamy. I am working on genetically engineering the microorganisms such as cyanobacteria and pyrococcus to be used in the microbial fuel cells and developing biosensors to detect the foodborne pathogen listeria monocytogenes using bacteriophage. In addition, I work on corrosion mitigation using plant extracts and developing anticorrosive medical implants.
